Verizon . . . Grrr
I've been a bad blogger. I thought with the arrival of my new baby , I would be a blogging fiend. But the girl ain't up and running yet. On Monday, I got her set up and turned on and all that good stuff. Then came time to get her on the internet. . . now I've never used wireless technology, and I don't really know what happened, but it seemed that I couldn't see my own wireless signal from my Verizon DSL gateway thingy, but I can see one of my neighbour's wireless router! Books, internet, prayer . . . none of it could help me.
Yesterday I resigned myself to an evening of Verizon DSL Tech Support for my iMac. I spent some of yesterday at work on different Mac message boards looking for some guidance. The boy was cooking (yummy indian spiced chicken marinated in yogurt with potatoes with peas), and I had the evening to myself. I took a shower, and went to check my internet one more time on the PC, and DSL is totally down. I called and was on the phone with some lady with a thick southern accent for about an hour with her having me try to the same things over and over again with no success. She said she'd never seen this particular error before. The smell of dinner began to waft upstairs and I asked her to leave an open ticket for me and I would call back. I did, and after an HOUR of hold time, I heard a woman answer and say, before I had a chance to speak, I cannot hear you please call back and she hung up! I called back and after another 40 minutes of hold, I gave up. This morning when I woke up the Internet light on the modem was on but I didn't have the heart to actually check the connection.
Needless to say, it's the my turn to cook, and the boy's turn to deal with the techie goodness. No knitting has gotten done in a couple of days, but it turns out that my new boss randomly is trying to learn. She doesn't know any knitters, and is armed with knitting for dummies, susan bates needles, and Red Heart super saver. Is it really good for me to show her the light (and the possible expense) of the world of knitting? I helped her figure out what she was doing wrong on her knit stitch (she wasn't pulling the stitch off the next needle) and I will bring in my garter stitch stripe scarf to show her what she can create. It's nice to have a knitting friend . . .

i hear ya on the verizon ordeal. everytime i call i end up talking with the verizon dial up people (why isn't there a choice for dsl). then they transfer me to dsl and usually the call is dropped. then if i haven't spent 40 minutes on hold, they can't solve my problem. so frustrating!
