Last Day of the Month

I am sure I'm not the only one out there who has a profession where the last day of the month is stressful.

I work in sales, and if I don't hit a certain number by this day, let's say, there won't be much yarn buying. Things went well this month despite my birthday, Thanksgiving and an office move. I'm enjoying a celebratory glass of wine as we speak.

Given that this is a knitting blog (or at least the word "knit" is in the title), I would be remiss to not let you know what I am working on.

It's the Pea Pod Baby Set by Kate Gilbert from the summer Interweave. I'm done knitting the body and the sleeves, and am going to cast on for the hat tonight while the body dries here:

I'm using the recommended yarn (Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere) and I do like it, but like many of DB's yarns) it is a little splitty. It is nice, and machine washable for a new mom though.

Am I really that fat?

Yesterday I went to work wearing what I thought was a cute outfit. Jeans, boots, and a cute green blazer. I got a few compliments throughout the day and was feeling pretty good about myself.

Towards the end of the day I was putting on my coat, and my friend pointed at my stomach and asked if something was going on. Dude, he thought I was pregnant and starting to show. Then he started to joke to other people, and everyone actually AGREED that I looked pregnant.

Needless to say, I'm forcing my self to the gym today.

alrighty then

So, my goal for November was to post every day, post a picture 3 times a week, and do something physical every day.

I managed to give up on November 5. I suck. I really do.

I don't know why I find it so onerous. I think some of it is that I never really made a good transition from using Typepad to Movable Type especially as I had switched from Windows to Mac. It seems to take forever for me to resize my photos, and post them so I tend not to even if I had taken them. Also, since in Safari there aren't as many bells and whistles in Movable Type as there are in IE or Firefox, which I can't get to work for some reason, I have trouble even posting links.

Not that it isn't an excuse. For me, blogging is a lot like exercise. I enjoy it immensely when I do it, and I feel great doing it regularly, but I have a really hard time making it part of my routine. I think I have some learning to do both in Movable Type and HTML, so if any of you have any good resources you would like to share, I'm all ears.

As for what has been going on lately . . .well my birthday was fantastic.

I learned how to spin on my Lendrum and that was a great time, although I have only filled one bobbin and want to learn how to ply it correctly.

C made me an incredible meal on my actual birthday (November 9) and took me to Philly for the weekend. We had another great meal out at a restaurant and then Saturday went yarn shopping at Rosie's Yarn Cellar. C bought me enough RY Cashsoft DK for a sweater, I bought some Koigu and Annie Modesitt's Confessions of a Knitting Heretic.

Sat night, C's dad and some friends met us to go see Medeski Martin and Wood at the Electric Factory which was packed! An enjoyable show none the less.

Thanksgiving was great as well . . . I made the meal and C made the dessert. I was a little bit stressed because it was the first time my Dad (and his girlfriend) met C's family. (Keep in mind that C and I will have been together 5 years come February). It went off without a hitch.

I'm not going to make any promises about posting more, because clearly I am not able to keep those promises. But . . . if you are reading this, please let me know you are out there. I'd like to pretend that blogging is for me a completely personal endeavor, and in many ways it is. However, if that was what I was truly seeking out . . .I would not be putting it out for the world to see. I would not be holding back the information and experiences I feel uncomfortable or unfair to share with others.

I started this blog to become part of a community that I saw being formed while reading other blogs and that I wanted to be a part of in going to Rhinebeck. So, if you are out there, let me know.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

The Midland

The Inland North

The South

Day 3, 4 and 5 . . . Ooops

Already off the wagon!

I do apologize I was a little under the weather Friday and Sat and it completely slipped my mind to post. I've been working on a few things . . .the bookcase in my room and my Everyday Cardi.

sweaterbookwine.jpg

I'm now done with the back, one front, and half way through the other front.

Like Deb. , I've also gotten some great mail this weekend.

Click on the picture to see my wonderful gift from Stitchy! I actually won something from Blogger Bingo!

I also got the new Interweave which seems promising.

Other than that, nothing big is going on . .. looking forward to a 3 day week as I took Thurs and Fri off for my birthday.

Day 2

Shit. I just wrote this nice long entry, and then Movable Type ate it.

Not much going on here. I finished the back of the Everyday Cardi last night. Unfortunately, no picture because my battery had to charge. I do have a picture from about a week ago, though.

Didn't do much else --Mythbusters was on.

Day 1

So far so good . . .

I've already been to the gym. I'm doing the Cool Running Couch to 5K program. Link here. Check. Went pretty well.

I'm blogging, and now I'm going to post a picture. Yay!

I've already said there is not much I can add to all of the posts about Rhinebeck that hasn't not already been said. One of my favorite purchases was my Bosworth spindle.

It is amazing how much a difference it makes in my spinning.

Example . . . this is my spinning with the Louet spindle I got with my learn to spin kit from Hello Yarn.

Now compare this to what I did on my Bossie . ..

Knitting has been slow going because I am so engrossed in my spindling. I am almost done with the back of my Everyday Cardi.

C's clogs are felted, but I need to wet them and reshape them so they are wearable.

And no, I have not spun on my wheel. I've made a deal with myself that I must finish reorganizing and neatening my room before I can spin on my Lendrum . . . it is a slow project, but it has given me some quality time with my Lendrum
