Nothing new

Spent last night scraping grout. This morning was a mess. Bleh.

January 30, 2007

Still here

Ok, getting grout off tile fucking sucks. I want my house back!

I took pictures for you all, but I can't find my cable so that will have to wait.

I haven't gotten much knitting done because of the kitchen, but I am working on a few things. I spun my first 2-ply, and I love it.

I'm still weaving in ends on my Everyday, and I restarted Rosedale. Still working on the cably socks too.

I put in an order to Knitpicks today. I got some wool wash, some needles and yarn for Glee from Zephyr Style and Thermal from the knitty surprise (I had to call and add to my order after I saw that!).

Not in good spirits as things are kind of blah.

Too sore to blog

and not from running unfortunately.

My house is a mess. Everything I own is covered in a thin layer of dust and his crammed into my dining room and living room.

However, I have a beautiful slate backsplash, and somewhere under 6 in. of grout is beautiful floor tile in my kitchen and family room. We were told we did 4K worth of labor in 3 days. I must mop now.

007 January

I took this photo a few days ago on my way to work. I'm new to gardening, but I don't think tulips are supposed to pop up in January in the northeast. I think it very well represents how odd this January has been, both weather-wise, and for me personally.

I have C and his friend H working downstairs tiling my kitchen and family room, so I don't have time for a lengthy post, nor do I have the energy to try to explain the weird happenings between C and I, as I have no understanding of what is actually happening. Going to try for my first 2-ply tonight. Pray for me.

Bejeweled

January 22, 2007

Good weekend, back at work.

So this weekend was actually pretty good.

Friday didn't do much. Carlos made dinner, I don't even remember what we did.

Saturday we got up to got to the Motorcycle Show which was a lot of fun. Although it was very cold and blustery in New York. I want a Vespa so bad!

We had a great french lunch, and then walked to Grand Central Station, and to the Apple Store on 5th Ave before coming home.

Sunday we bought a whole bunch of tile for our mini kitchen remodel this weekend.

In fiber news . . . I am almost done with my second bobbin, so I should be ready to ply soon.

I finsihed the knitting on my Bejeweled, which I wore yesterday and today, and the Everyday Sweater, which needs to be blocked before I sew the buttons on.

Running . . . I didn't do so good, although we walked 6.5 miles in NY on Sat and I decided to count that toward my goal. This morning we got up, but the sidewalks were icy so we didn't go.

Daniel Craig is Hot

So, I saw Casino Royale last night . . . with C. So things are better, but still up in the air, and I'm not quite sure how they are going to resolve themselves and I'm trying to make myself ok with that.

A few of you helped me pull myself off the ledge this week, and I appreciate that a lot.

Tomorrow we are going to NY for the Motorcycle Show. I will bring the new sock I started the other day:

I will also, hopefully, be wearing my finished Bejeweled.

I'm still here

So I'm trying to muddle through. Things aren't much better at home, but I still managed to have a decent night. (This does not explain the way I managed to pick a fight this morning).

After dinner, which C made, and we watched a West Wing episode off our DVD, I decided to watch a movie. I brought down my basket of Romney roving and turned it into this:

I watched Thirteen. It was pretty disturbing but well made.

I also wanted to show you the status of my Everyday Cardi and my Bejeweled Scarf, both of which are lying on the floor of my office with the upmost respect. I found this:

Notice he is not just lying on the sweater, but the pattern himself. I got him off, and took this picture of my Bejeweled scarf:

And turned around and saw this:

I gave up, and went to bed.

Grey, grey day

It's pretty bleak outside. Grey, and they said it might snow but it didn't.

I was about to say that I had a nice, long weekend, but in reality it wasn't so nice. Actually, it kind of sucked.

I did a lot of laundry. I spun a little. I knit a lot. I started finishing my Everyday Cardi (which I'm not sure will fit right when I am done). I am almost done with Bejeweled. I finished Fetching (and I love them), and I started a pair of cably socks. I also taught myself to cable without a cable needle. I made a big pot of chili.

It would have been easy to gloss over this weekend, the way I did to people at work when they asked me how it was, but in reality I spent much of the time crying and alone.

C and I have had a really difficult relationship, and it was a really difficult decision for us to buy our house together, and now that we are looking towards our next move, it was difficult for us to decide to take this next step together. Things had been going really well over the past few weeks, and I felt closer to C then ever, but last week I started to second guess myself. I started to wonder when the other shoe would drop. In other words, I freaked out. And I wasn't very fun to be around.

I think, subconsciously, I just wanted C to comfort me and to tell me that everything was going to be ok, and we would live happily ever after, but that isn't really his style. He is honest to a fault and doesn't like to candy coat things, and is usally content to say that he hopes we work out but he can't say for sure that we will, or that anyone will. Instead, I transferred my doubts to C, and it was a pretty messy weekend, and is still pretty messy today.

I'm not quite sure what is going to happen . . . C isn't ready to talk about it (I realize this after a weekend of trying to force him to talk) and I'm feeling more down, and more insecure than if I hadn't completly freaked out and instead had been honest about my feelings.

So that is where I am right now, and that is why I forgot to take photos of my progress, and why I'm generally blah today. And I'm glad that it is grey today . . . it suits me.

Note to self . . .

drinking an entire bottle of wine is NEVER a good idea.

I'll post more when I feel human.

One warm hand . . .

One still cold . . .

Stops and Starts

I'm feeling a little blah today . . .I'm hoping that goes away before my run in 9 hours!

I'm definitely feeling like I'm having trouble getting going this year. For the first time ever, the only thing i seem capable of accomplishing is my fitness goal. (I have run/walked every other day since the new year).

I've lost some momentum at work, and have had some confusion as to how to deal with some possible upcoming issues there, and I'm starting to think I may have handled things the wrong way and now need to back track.

It is finally cold enough to wear the Everyday sweater but I'm too lazy to finish it. This is what it looks like now:

I've sewn one sleeve on (badly) and the other is pinned on, and I still need to knit the collar and buttonbands.

I haven't knitted on Bejeweled in a few days, although I think I will a little tonight, because after seeing Margene's, I want to wear mine!

I have been spinning a bit, but still haven't completed my first bobbin! I think it is fear of plying that is holding me back.

And I finished my first Fetching glove, but haven't cast on for the second.

I'm hoping the 3.5 day weekend I have will help get me out of my funk!

Run 5

Damn it was cold!

Another one down . . . another 2.49 miles, bringing my total for the week to 5.04 miles, and for the month 11.71. Just 88.29 to go before April 1st!

January 09, 2007

Startitis

The first step is admitting you have a problem . . .

The yarn is some Cascade 220 that a secret pal once sent me to knit a felted bag . . . then I remembered while taking off my gloves on a cold morning, that I don't carry felted bags . . .

I did some spinning as well, but the picture looks pretty close to the last, but with more yarn on the bobbin.

Next run is tomorrow.

Mondays are the worst- Runs 3 & 4

So this weekend was good, low key, but good.

Friday we had a work outing to go bowling. I suck at bowling, but I had a good time, and was home by 7 for pizza and wine with C.

Saturday I ran, which was really rough, after beer and wine the night before and really bizarre weather. I SO should not have been able to run in short sleeves, in January, in PA. But I logged 2.4 miles bringing my total for last week to 6.66 miles. Yes, that creeped me out.

In the afternoon, we went shopping for my running shoes, and I bought a new pair, which I LOVE, which happen to be Nike + compatible so no more knitted pouch, but I still love that little pattern.

In knitting news, I did knit my Bejeweled Scarf and made a lot of progress. I'm part of Lolly's knitalong, and the patttern puts some money towards charity and it is a lot of fun.

I also joined Project Spectrum again, and hope to do a better job of keeping up with it this year. In other crafty news, I've been spinning a bit, procrastinating finishing my Everyday Sweater (although hopefully it will get cold enough to wear it), and I cast on for Fetching this evening with some Cascade 220 from my stash.

I think they will be good running gloves . . .and I did run another 2.51 miles this evening, bringing my total to 9.21 miles so far this year.

Oscar thinks I should spend more time with him

January 04, 2007

Run 2

2.37 miles, for a weekly total of 4.26 miles so far. 95.74 miles left to go!

I was surprised that I ran faster and farther following the same program as Tuesday. I had trouble getting up, and wasn't really feeling like running but I'm glad that I did. I need to learn some good hamstring stretches though, as my legs are going to be sore later!

January 03, 2007

Spinning

So today was a little rough. I don't know if I am recouping from getting up so early to run yesterday . . .seems like a stretch to call it running, but anyhoo, or if I am getting sick, but this morning was awful. I couldn't get out of bed and I've been out of it and in a daze all day.

I had the idea to get up early on my off days and use the morning to spin and/or knit . . . didn't happen today as I wasn't out of bed until 7:15. I did spin a little last night on my Lendrum which I'm still getting to know.

Here's my progress . . . I am having trouble where if my yarn breaks (which I believe is because I'm not putting enough spin), I have trouble getting yarn off the bobbin back through the orifice without the yarn breaking more because it seems to unspin. Does that make sense?

I didn't spin tonight, nor did I knit, but I did sew one sleeve and one side seam on my Everyday Sweater. I'm a little nervous about the fit, as the cuff of the sleeve seems mighty small, but I was able to get it on. I can't visualize yet how the sweater will look on me, and I'm hoping some blocking will loosen things up.

I also found an outlet for my desire to work on my digital photography this year from Stephanie at Unwind

It's Snap a Dozen Days, and check out her blog if you are interested in joining us.

Now if anyone has a good place to buy photoshop, and any idea how to create a gallery in Movable Type, let me know!

January 02, 2007

Run 1

1.89 miles down, 98.1 left to go.

Started the Couch to 5K program again, and C went with me at 6am. Cold and dark, but it feels good. The Nike Plus thing is the coolest!

January 01, 2007

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone out there had a wonderful holiday --- whatever they may celebrate, and a happy and safe new year! I did, and I definitely enjoyed the few extra days off.

Christmas was low key and nice at C's parents. He got an 80GB ipod, and I got the Nike + running doo-hickey for my Nano, some DVDs, and at some point some new running shoes. (I guess someone was trying to make a point). That does, however, bring me to my first FO of 2007:

This was from Rachel's great "pattern" and I'm also joining (attempting?) her 100 miles by April Fool's Day challenge, officially once I figure out how to use my ipod thingy.

100miles.jpg

I'm not calling it a resolution, because then I'm sure to fail, but I'm trying to remember that exercise used to be play and not work!

Speaking of work, I'm really not looking forward to going back tomorrow. I'd rather be home spinning and finishing up this:

That is the body, sewn together, blocking. The sleeves are blocked as well. I just need to sew the sleeves on (which I haven't done since my first sweater) which I'm not looking forward to, as well as knit the button bands and the collar, which I also despise. But I want to wear the damn thing!

I did make some resolutions this year because they are things that need to be done:

1. Blog more. I'm not being specific on this, but one thing I like about this blog (besides the comments which there have been less of late -- due to my lack of regular posting I'm sure), is that it holds me accountable to anything I say here. I mean, theoretically, I could lie, but that would be pretty wrong. I'd also like to work on my digital photography so this would be a great venue.

2. Spin more. See #1. Please hold me accountable.

3. Declutter/clean a manageable amount each day . .. minimum 15 minutes. It is very possible that this house will be sold in 2007 and a big move might be made. To where, I have no idea, but I would like to make it as painless as possible.

4. Be a better girlfriend and friend and daughter. I'm realizing I'm much too old to be self-centered, only child as I may be. I need to work on being a better person in general.

I'd love to hear some of your resolutions/goals for 2007!
