I'm not just neglecting you . . .

I'm neglecting my knitting (although some has gotten done), my housework (none of that is getting done), my school work (very little is getting done). So don't feel so bad. I can't believe how long it has been since I've written a REAL post and I feel especially guilty that I'm at work and have no pictures to show you. I also have to try to remember what has happened in the past 2 weeks.

February 14th, Valentine's Day, is C and my anniversary. 4 years! And there have been a lot of times in the last 4 years that we didn't think we'd make it. Anyway, we did, and we were very happy and he cooked me a lovely meal of scallops and wild rice pilaf, cheese and bread. Champagne was drunk and chocolate fondue enjoyed by all.

After I ripped out my Rosedale, I started a Clapotis in some Noro Shinano I purchased off of ebay. So far so good . . .I'm in the straight sections and have dropped 4 stitches; I will take some pictures tonight. I'm also up to the heel on my red socks and am eager to finish so I can cast on for my Sockapaloooza socks, probably doing a pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks.

I also got some other goodies in the mail . . .my pattern for the Sew I Knit sewalong, and I purchased my fabric and other notions as well. Now, I just need to learn to use my sewing machine! And learn how to cut out a pattern! Any tips . .. I also got a drop spindle and some beautiful fiber from Adrian at Hello Yarn but I haven't had a chance to do more than fondle (and I realized that Oscar may not love yarn, but he LOOOVVVES fiber . . .so I need to be careful with storage there)

This weekend was nice . .. Friday I wasn't feeling 100% (waiting for blood work results from the doctor to hopefully find out what is wrong) so I skipped the gym. C went, and I made some pasta and we chilled out with some wine on the couch. Saturday we met a friend of C's from Munich and a coworker of his in NYC (It was their first time there). We had oysters and soup at Bar Americain, drove down to the financial district and walked around SoHo, South Street Seaport, and the West Village before having an amazing Portuguese meal in a little place we never would have just found. I highly, highly recommend both. I love NY.

On the weight front .  .. for you Elisa . ..at the doctor on Wed I weighed 131.8 (4.2 lbs down, 21.8 to go). My working out and eating habits have been sporadic at best, and my not feeling hot hasn't helped. Nor has copius amounts of red wine, so I'm happy with my results and that I've lost at all. The 125-130 range is where I've been for the past few years, and is where most of my clothes fit best so I'm getting close.

In September 2004 I did the Danskin triathalon. I didn't have the time or the know how to train for that event and did it in 2 hours (after literally nearly drowning during the swim portion). I had wanted to better my time in 2005, but the move shelved that idea. I still have no idea if  I will be able to compete this year (the time of the event is close to the time we want to go to Portland, and right now that is a priority) but I've decided to train as if I am. Now, I haven't swam or ran since then, so I'm starting with a 10 week walk/run program before I start the tri training with spinning/cycling mixed in to prepare me for the 5 Borough Bike Tour in May. I'm hoping this will kickstart my fitness, and my weight loss.

Rest in Peace

kureyon.jpg This was 9" of my Rosedale United body. I was ripping back tonight to fix a mistake I noticed in the Intarsia when I decided I should try it on. It was about 10" to big! I checked my guage, and it is very different from my swatch. I haven't had the heart to rip the sleeves yet.

I haven't made much progress with the other red sock except to cast on and finish the short row toe. I did purchase some yarn for my Sockapaloooza pal however. Jaeger Matchmaker DK . . .I hope to adapt a pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks.

matchmaker.jpg I'm not sure if I've bought enough yarn, as I've never knit socks with DK yarn and my sockpal has larger feet than me, but I'm hoping it will work out, otherwise this will be a test pair for me.

I also purchased some yarn for a vest for me .. .I've never worn a vest but I've been craving one. It's simple Lambs Pride Worsted in a pretty grey.

I haven't picked a pattern for this  yet, and I may just wing it.

On other news, I've been really run down lately and hard to motivate so I made an appointment for a physical hoping that will help. I haven't weighed myself in a while so I don't know where I am on that front -- I don't think I've lost more.

Work has been a little stressful, but the environment I'm in at this job makes that more bearable. Happy Knitting to all you Olympians out there. Have a cup of joe on me.

Anyone up for a drink?

I was planning on posting tonight so I could post some pictures of my Rosedale process . . . I may have to rip the second red sock as I believe I may have been knitting with one size 1 needle and one size 3 needle . . .however due to the fact that I am one inch into the sock, I might just switch needles at home and forget it ever happened.

I am having another one of those days . . . that makes you want to bang your head against the wall and drink wine for breakfast. I'm having some differences with my trainers at my new job on what is proficient . . . luckily my new boss is on my side . . . especially since the trainers' issue is that I may be TOO prepared. Too prepared?

I leave you with this. Have one on me:

How to make a jennysbelly
Ingredients:
5 parts friendliness
3 parts humour
3 parts empathy
Method:
Stir together in a glass tumbler with a salted rim. Add a little curiosity if desired!

A Dry Crack is a Happy Crack

I swear to god I saw a sign that said that while driving to work today.

How to annoy Jenny in the morning:

1. Tickle me while I'm doing the dishes

2. Trip me with your leash while I'm picking up your poop so I accidently touch your poop with my hand. Ew.

3. Tell me as I'm out the door  running late that your ride never showed up for school (even though I suggested that you call and confirm before you skip your bus) and you need a ride

4. Make me drive in a parking lot full of teenagers who just got their licenses yesterday

5. Come to a complete stop at a merge so while avoiding rear-ending you force me to spill coffee on my pants.

6. Force me to get to work late so that I have to leave late and thus miss my spinning class tonight even though I bought new cycling shoes.

Edit: 7. Throw away my tin foil that I use as a toast plate while I'm in the bathroom.

I'm at work, and I am sans camera which is still acting up. I cleared the memory card and it still says memory card full, and only works with the memory card out of the camera which means I can only take one picture at a time.

I finished both sleeves of Rosedale and cast on for the body. I also cast on for the second red sock.  I'll try to take pictures tonight with C's camera.

Other than that I feel a little overwhelmed with everything I have to do. My online classes, my house is a mess, the gym to lose weight, my taxes . . . which I don't think I can do by myself this year, and the Kid and planning for the Move.

The Move is capitalized for a reason . . .it should be no suprise to anyone that knows me that C and I are not happy in Pa, and feel trapped here because of his contract at work and our committment to the Kid. We are, probably not smartly since I just started a new job, starting to look towards a move when those commitments are over and have been focused on Portland. Any of you from there, been there? We hope to go visit over the summer for a week to get a feel, but we are not in the best financial shape right now.

Got to get to work know.

132.00

I'm down 3 pounds. At least I was before my spinning class last night. (Bicycle spinning . .. I only wish it was fiber spinning). I'm hoping that an hour of biking like a madman a la Wendy will balance out the beer, 2 pieces of pizza and homemade carrot cake I ate last night.  I doubt it. Thus, I will be eating salad for lunch today.

Still knitting the Rosedale sleeve. And the red sock. No pictures. I emptied my camera of pictures and yet it still says memory card full. The boy was supposed to look at it last night, but I forgot to ask him and he was distracted by the X games. Hopefully I'll be able to add them tonight after work.

Cheers.

Rosedale

rosedalesleeve_1.jpg I started Rosedale United last night. I'm a little curious as to how I like this Kureyon colorway (its 138). Carlos thinks it is ugly but it is growing on me. I was originally going to use this yarn to make a simple top down raglan a la Crafty Brainwave but Rosedale kept calling my name. I'm actually scared shitless excited about the intarsia! So far so good . .. I'm not very far into it but am enjoying how fast knitting goes on size 8s after working on miles of garter stitch for Patrick's scarf (which was finished late Friday night).

I also got to knit at work while listening to boring educational trainings via MS Livemeeting. I turned my first short row heel! Thanks Purly for your excellent yarn over short row tutorial!

This weekend was nice. Low key except for the party (in which C's sister looked beautiful and I took many blurry pictures . . .and that was before I drank too much wine!) I'm looking forward to getting my sock pal and am nervous about knitting for someone who doesn't already love me!

I leave you with this picture of C and his sister dancing.
